Begin your LOOP

LOOP is our circular system where metals are traded, re-cast, and set in motion again. Each piece carries an engraved mark as a reminder that precious metals are not fixed substances. They are always in transit, always becoming.

How to trade your heirlooms?

Collect the pieces

Gather the solid gold or silver jewellery you’d like to bring into the LOOP - from any brand, any era.

Please make sure your pieces are not gold or silver plated.

Email us at orders@herien.store with a short list and clear photos of what you’d like to trade in.

We’ll come back to you with a few questions to confirm that we can work with your pieces.

Send us your jewellery

Once confirmed, we’ll share our shipping address.

Send your jewellery with tracked and insured
delivery.
After it arrives, we refine and melt the metal down to its pure form, ready to become part of new HERIEN pieces.

Please note that different carats refine differently - this is expected.
• 9k contains the highest alloy content → yields less pure metal
• 14k offers a medium return
• 18k–24k contain high gold content → yield more pure metal

Sterling silver typically refines with modest weight loss, depending on solder and impurities.

You always receive store credit for the final verified weight of recovered metal.

Receive your credit

Your refined gold or silver is converted into store credit based on the value of the recovered metal, according to our refinery’s valuation at the time of processing.

Credit may be used toward any Herien piece or a bespoke creation crafted in our atelier.

Why to trade gold?

Gold is a finite element, and in its pure form, rarer than diamonds. Every new mine carves into landscapes, accelerates erosion, strips forests, and often relies on toxic agents such as mercury and cyanide. At some point, the ground will simply have nothing more to give.

What is recycled gold?

Recycled gold comes from what already exists: heirloom jewelry, industrial components, electronic parts. These are melted down, refined, and brought back to their pure elemental state. In this form, recycled gold is indistinguishable in quality from newly mined gold.

Why use recycled gold?

Because the most responsible mine is the one we already carry: in our drawers, vaults, and archives. Recycled gold keeps material in circulation, reduces pressure on ecosystems, and aligns each HERIEN piece with a quieter, slower way of consuming.

Why to trade silver?

Silver is the quieter sibling of gold, present in our technologies, our tableware, our jewellery, our histories. Like gold, it is finite. Silver mining disturbs soil, mountains and waterways, leaving behind scars and residues that remain long after the ore is gone.

What is recycled silver?

Recycled silver is silver brought back into circulation. It is recovered from existing jewellery, industrial elements and electronic components, then melted down and refined. Once it reaches its pure form (or is alloyed again as sterling 925), it is identical in quality to freshly mined silver.

Why use recycled silver?

Because there is already enough silver moving through our lives. Recycled silver slows the demand for new extraction, extends the life of existing material and allows each HERIEN piece to carry a softer footprint: luminous, precise, and made from what is already here.
